Carry-On Bag Packing List

Everything you need for the flight — plus the important things you shouldn't put in checked luggage. Use this carry-on packing list to keep your travel essentials organized, accessible and safely with you.

Travel Documents & Money

Keep your essential travel documents somewhere easy to reach. Pack your passport or ID, boarding pass, wallet, payment cards, travel insurance details and copies of important reservations or your itinerary.

Medications & Health

Prescription medications and anything medically important should stay with you rather than in checked luggage. Bring essential medications, glasses or contacts, and any health items you would have difficulty replacing if your checked bag were delayed.

Electronics & Valuables

Keep electronics and valuables in your carry-on. This may include your phone, chargers, portable power bank, headphones, tablet or e-reader, camera, jewelry and other valuable or irreplaceable items.

Comfort for the Flight

A few small items can make the flight much more comfortable. Consider a light sweater or wrap, headphones, lip balm, snacks, an empty reusable water bottle, eye mask and anything else you like to have during the flight.

Backup Clothing

Pack at least one change of underwear and socks, along with a simple change of clothes. If your checked luggage is delayed, having something clean to wear can make a big difference.

Liquids & Toiletries

Bring only the toiletries you'll need during your journey or immediately after arrival. Because security requirements can change and may vary by airport, check the current rules for liquids and other restricted items before packing.

What Goes in Your Personal Item?

Your personal item is the smaller bag that generally stays with you at your seat. Use it for the things you'll want during the flight, such as your passport or ID, medications, phone, headphones, charger, snacks and empty water bottle.

What NOT to Put in Checked Luggage

Keep important or difficult-to-replace items with you. Passports and identification, medications, money and cards, electronics, jewelry, keys, valuables and important documents are better kept in your carry-on rather than checked luggage.

Before You Leave

Check your airline's current carry-on and personal-item size limits, since requirements can vary by airline and fare type. Review current airport security rules, charge your devices, download your boarding pass and any entertainment you want for the flight, and make sure your luggage is clearly labelled.
